A colonic Flush for the car or truck

A Colonic Flush for Your Car?

Here’s What You Need to Know

At The Auto Shop, we love helping our clients keep their vehicles running smoothly, and sometimes that means giving your car a “flush.” Recently, we had a customer who thought their car needed a flush—but they were thinking of it more like a colonic flush! While we had a good laugh about that, it got us thinking about how important it is for car owners to understand the different types of flushes their vehicle might need.

So, what kind of flush does your car really need? Well, that depends on your car’s specific needs. Here’s a breakdown of the common types of flushes and services that your car might require to keep things running efficiently and safely:

Comprehensive Flush for Your Car | Radiator, Transmission & Brake Fluid Services

Brake Fluid Flush

This is a crucial service, especially if the pH balance of your brake fluid is off. With our handy test strips, we check for corrosive levels and make sure the fluid is safe. Maintaining the proper pH in your brake fluid helps protect the engine, gaskets, seals, hoses, and more from damage.

Engine Oil Flush

This service goes beyond your standard oil change. An engine oil flush uses chemicals to clean out all the particles and gunk that can accumulate, especially if your vehicle is used for short trips. If you notice your car running sluggishly or producing strange sounds, it might be time for this service.

Differential and Transfer Case Flush

These two systems often get overlooked, but they play an important role in your vehicle’s performance, particularly if you have a 4-wheel drive. A differential flush ensures the gears in your rear or all-wheel-drive system are well-lubricated, while the transfer case helps transfer power from the transmission to the axles.

Transmission Flush

The transmission system is another area that benefits from a good flush. Over time, contaminants can build up, leading to inefficient performance and potential breakdowns. A flush ensures that the transmission fluid stays clean and the system runs smoothly.

Cooling System Flush

Keeping your cooling system in check is essential to avoid overheating. Flushing the system helps to remove old coolant and replace it with fresh fluid, maintaining the system’s integrity and keeping your engine cool.

Power Steering Fluid Flush

Similar to the brake and transmission systems, the power steering fluid also needs to be kept clean and at the right levels to prevent steering issues and avoid costly repairs.

When Should These Flushes Be Done?

Generally, we recommend having these services performed every two years or between 40,000 and 50,000 miles, depending on your vehicle’s make and model. Always consult your owner’s manual or give us a call to confirm.
